Predictions and very busy

So, it's been a while.

I've been a bit busy, so it's been a while.

So before going into why I've been busy, let me just run through my predictions of cool stuff in 2011.

Game of Thrones TV Show: YAY very good. I don't think they could have done this any better than they did, a real joy to watch.

Ghost Story: ARRRRRG, must have more Dresden Files.... NOW!

The Wise Man's Fear: It was very good, though I'm not sure I like it as much as the first book. The last book of the trilogy will really decide me on this one I think.

The Cape TV Series: Turned to crap I felt, I'm not sure what went wrong, it had so much potential, but it threw it all away. Damn.

One last thing I will mention, despite the fact that I did not mention it in my earlier posts, is A Dance with Dragons. This is the fifth book in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series and had not yet been announced earlier, it came out a few months ago and I have actually not finished it yet. I think I'm about a third way through and it is awesome, but it takes a lot of energy to read and as I've said, I've been a bit busy.


So back to having been busy.

Since my earlier posts, my job at IBM has really taken off and I have been travelling back and forth between Ireland and Denmark several times.

I've also had the fortune to meet a girl, which also takes up some time, though in very nice ways.

I've also been keeping up with my smoking stop, and been trying to get into some good habits of cooking good meals.

And finally the last two months I've been regularly working out several times a week and playing badminton as well.

So it has been quite busy, but also very nice. I can't believe I've soon been in Ireland for an entire year.

I'll try to post a bit more often, there are several things I'd like to post about, so hopefully I'll find the time soon.

Nicotine free through janu'ree & The Cape

Bad rhyme and not quite true, but I liked the "How I Met Your Mother" Reference.

Well 2011 is definitely looking to be a good year.

I've haven't touched a cigarette for a week which means I've saved around 60 euros and of course I'm more healthy and will live longer and all that good stuff.

I've decided that as a reward I will buy a Nintendo 3DS when it arrives if I am still not smoking, as I will save around 250 euros a month, it should not pose a financial problem.

In other good news "The Cape" premiered with a double episode yesterday. I had thought about mentioning "The Cape" in my last post, but I wasn't really sure it would not be a huge disappointment.

Now I'm quite convinced that this will be one of the things that I look forward to every week.

The two first episodes were not perfect, but they were very good, especially for a superhero TV-show.

The superhero story managed to be both original and true to form. I have never read the comic, but I'm very hopeful and intrigued about where this will go.

New Blog, New Year

So I finally got up the nerve to start my own blog and as we are about to enter 2011 and none of my own projects are near enough completion to warrant mention, I thought I'd just highlight a few of the things I'm looking forward to in the new year.

Game of Thrones TV-Series
I've been a big fan of George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire for years and since the fifth volume is probably still a ways off, we'll just have to settle for an HBO adaptation filled with great actors and beautiful sets Hey, wait a minute.
Yeah it's almost too good to be true, the company that has brought us series like Deadwood, The Wire, Rome, Band of Brothers and so many more are going to be producing a huge fantasy series staring Sean Bean, Lena Headley, Ian Glenn and Peter Dinkage just to mention a few.

Look for Game of Thrones on HBO in April or if you haven't read the books; hurry down to your nearest book store.

Ghost Story
For those that don't know, "Ghost Story" will be the 13th volume in Jim Butcher's thrilling "Dresden Files" series.
I discovered the "Dresden Files" when I was trolling around for some new fantasy series to read and stumbled unto Butcher's "Codex Alera" series, I enjoyed it greatly and when I was waiting for the last volume to come out I kept coming back to Jim Butcher's homepage where all the Dresden books were listed as well. I thought they sounded terribly boring, private detective magician stuff. Well I eventually tried one and just kept going through the then 11 published books.
The books aren't all that long and are real page turners. If you are not already acquainted with them, I highly recommend picking up the first one "Storm Front". The best part is that so far every new book has been better than the last.

Look for "Ghost Story" in book stores in April.

The Wise Man's Fear
Patrick Rothfuss, the author of "The Name of the Wind" and the upcoming "The Wise Man's Fear", is really something else, despite the fact that he has only published one book. I feel like he has already placed himself next to George R. R. Martin, Robert Jordan and even Tolkien for that matter. "The Name of the Wind" just has something indefinably magical about it, Rothfuss' prose is extremely beautiful and the story is told in an ingenious way. If you are not already waiting eagerly for "Wise Man's Fear" then you have not read "The Name of the Wind", but I'll let Patrick Rothfuss' own words, from the first chapter of "The Name of the Wind", entice you, rather than my rambling.

I have stolen princesses back from sleeping barrow kings. I burned down the town of Trebon. I have spent the night with Felurian and left with both my sanity and my life. I was expelled from the University at a younger age than most people are allowed in. I tread paths by moonlight that others fear to speak of during day. I have talked to Gods, loved women, and written songs that make the minstrels weep. 

You may have heard of me. 

"The Wise Man's Fear" will be coming out on the 1st of March

Well that't all for now. 2011 is looking to be a fine year.
